I was thrilled to know that I will be speaking at the first ever WordCamp in Nigeria at Civic Center Victoria Island, Lagos. My talk had a goal to show the participants the benefits of blogging and also share my personal story with WordPress.
Ding, an email came in for speakers dinner scheduled for Friday, 9th March 2018. All speakers were expected to come with a business partner or life partner – not an arbitrary + 1. Oh no, mine wasn’t available to attend. So I went alone. Not too bad though, because my friend was also a speaker and I sat close to him as we discussed various issues. I enjoyed the dinner which was at La Mango Restaurant and Lounge Ikeja GRA, Lagos
Saturday, 10th March 2018, I arrived Civic Center Victoria Island Lagos, the venue for the event. My session was scheduled for the morning. Here are some points I made on why you need a personal website.
The feedback I got was amazing, you could check it out on twitter here or here, a participant wrote a blog post on his experience at WordCamp, he stated eight reasons why you should attend the next and cited my session as his best and used it to buttress his point (no. 3 inspiration from people). I was really humbled by this. I look forward to more speaking engagements on blogging, branding, social media strategies, leadership, and technology.
The organizers, volunteers did an excellent job in organizing this event and also the speakers shared a lot. I learned more, strengthened relationships and made new friends. Thanks to Mary Job for leading the team. Here is the official WordCamp Lagos 2018 Debrief.
It’s always a privilege to add value to both the young and old. The feedback I got from my audience really touched my heart.
Mr. Fashola said, ” I think I like this guy’s personality. He seems like a still water flowing strongly with a unique tide”
Mr. Feyisayo said, ” An interesting talk. I loved the way you combined it with personal stories”
and Victor said, “Your talk was my best session. You really inspired me” and many more positive feedback. To think of the fact that Mr. Victor and Mr. Feyisayo are married and way older than me, I am humbled by their words and the opportunity to add value to them
I ended my talk with this quote from Gary Vaynerchuk,
As long as you are creating online content, you’re creating future opportunity”
Yeah, I haven’t forgotten, my slides, right? Here you go with other speakers:
